CONAN O'BRIEN: POST-LENO A NO-GO… NOW WHAT?

And we thought the “Twilight” saga was divisive, with Team Edward and Team Jacob. That’s nothing compared to Hollywood’s NBC Late-Night saga, with its Team Leno and Team Conan. (There doesn’t seem to be a Team NBC, as everybody’s in agreement that they screwed up big-time.) After O’Brien’s statement was released to the press this afternoon, in which he expressed hope that he’d be able to continue hosting “The Tonight Show” at 11:35, we spoke to “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence, who’s had a little experience in the past with NBC execs, and found he’s firmly in the Team Conan camp.
Meanwhile, the players in this strange soap opera continue to approach the subject with varying degrees of humor; on Tuesday night’s “Tonight Show,” O’Brien enlisted Howie Mandel to help determine his next career move.

And for those who are still confused about the whole mess, CBS “Late Show” host David Letterman — who can never resist taking a few jabs at NBC brass (we’re surprised he doesn’t refer to them as “Peacock suckers”) — spelled out the situation as only he could.
