WILL THERON AND FARMIGA GET A ‘RISE’ OUT OF BATMAN FANS?

The pieces are starting to fall into place for the next Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises,” with word that Academy Award winner Charlize Theron and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga are joining the cast of the film, which is due out in 2012.

According to Comicbookmovie.com, Theron (who won the Best Actress Oscar for “Monster” in 2003) would be playing a character named Detective Sarah Essen, a possible love interest for Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman).

Vera Farmiga, who earned her Oscar nomination for last year’s “Up In The Air,” has apparently emerged from the audition process as the woman who gets to play the  love interest for Bruce Wayne. (Christian Bale)
