‘SUPERMAN’ DIRECTOR: KEEPING MAN OF STEEL CURRENT WAS A ‘SMALL’ TASK
Superman made his first appearance in pop culture 73 years ago, when the first Superman comic was published. Since then, Superman has become one of the most famous and beloved fictional super heroes of all time. Aside from being a comic book, Superman has been spun off to many variations of television shows, and five motion picture films.
In recent years however, Superman has been pushed to the back of people’s minds, due to the success of many other super hero films in recent years such as Iron Man and the comeback of Batman in The Dark Knight. But Superman is gearing up for his comeback to the big screen in Superman: Man of Steel, which will be in theatres in December, 2012.
Zack Snyder will be directing the film, and Chris Nolan (the director and writer behind the resurgence of the Batman films, The Dark Knight and the upcoming, The Dark Knight Rises) will be producing. We spoke to Snyder, who credits the CW hit series, Smallville, which is now in its final season, for keeping Superman in the consciousness of audiences.
