Demi Lovato has had quite the year. It has been a difficult one. She struggled with personal issues like her eating disorder and self-mutilation. By November of 2010 though, enough was enough. She helped herself by firing those around her who didn’t have her best interest at heart and checked into rehab. It wasn’t an easy decision, but she took control and got help. Today, she’s looking at life with a different set of eyes. They’re brighter, hopeful, optimistic and happy. Demi recently released her new album, “Unbroken,” which says it all. Even after everything she’s been through, she’s still standing strong. The first single off the album is titled “Skyscraper,” and again, it speaks to where she’s at in her life right now. Perhaps the first thought that comes to mind when there are personal issues involved is to keep them to one’s own self, to protect one’s own self from all the naysayers. It’s tough to get well when there’s negativity being written about you or you hear the negativity through the grapevine. Demi isn’t giving in to any of that. What’s most important and true to her is her music and that’s what she chooses to focus on. She speaks to her fans through music and wants to continue to be an inspiration to them no matter what hardships she’s been through. She’s looking for peace and part of the healing process is being open to sharing her story with other young girls and women who have walked in her shoes. Poppy Montgomery starred on the CBS hit police drama Without a Trace for seven seasons. The series has been off the air for two years, and Montgomery has now returned to CBS with what seems to be another hit police drama, Unforgettable. While some might draw similarities because both shows are of the same genre, Montgomery wanted to make sure that her character was nothing like the one she played on Without a Trace. Is Ryan Gosling really going to retire? If you believe an interview he gave to the UK Times newspaper in London, in a story that was reprinted and referenced by newspapers and websites worldwide, the answer is yes. But is it true? Gosling — who’s currently starring in the action flick “Drive” and co-stars in George Clooney’s political thriller “The Ides of March” (which opens October 7) — spoke to us yesterday, and he wanted to clear the air and explain that his words were taken out of context. The FOX hit series House, which is entering its eighth season, will have a different look when it returns next Monday 9/8 central on FOX. As many know, House star Lisa Edelstein, who played Dr. Lisa Cuddy for seven seasons, decided not to return to the series. Many of her co-stars were sad to hear she wasn’t coming back. House star Hugh Laurie is among them, and was sad to see her depart and wished her well. (Click on the audio player to hear Hugh Laurie)

In 2008, X-Men star Hugh Jackman hosted the 81st Academy Awards and was widely praised for the tremendous job he did on the world’s biggest award show.
We spoke to Jackman yesterday while he was promoting his latest film, Real Steel, which opens in theatres October 7, and asked him what he thought of comedic actor Eddie Murphy hosting the 2012 Oscars. Jackman told us that he thinks Murphy will do a great job, and went on to tell us that Steve Martin gave him some of the best advice about hosting the Academy Awards. Kat Dennings got her start on TV, with her big break coming in the “Hot Child in the City” episode of HBO’s “Sex and the City.” A starring role on the short-lived Bob Saget comedy “Raising Dad” came next, but since then, she’s devoted most of her time to movies, including “The House Bunny,” “Thor,” and “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.” Now, she’s back on television, starring in the new CBS comedy “Two Broke Girls.”
Dennings can certainly relate to the character, since she grew up in a home where money was often scarce. She also didn’t get to watch much television, so how did she get the inspiration to become an actress? (Click on the audio player to hear Kat Dennings)

Daniel Radcliffe has been earning rave reviews on Broadway for his starring role in the revival of “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” But, as he discovered last year with the “Harry Potter” franchise, all good things must come to an end, and Radcliffe will be ending his run on New Year’s Day 2012.
To apply another cliche, though, the show must go on. Radcliffe’s shoes will be filled — at least temporarily — by “Glee” star Darren Criss, who takes over for a three-week limited run between January 3 and January 22. Radcliffe is looking forward to meeting his replacement, because there’s something he needs to pass along to him. (Click on the audio player below to hear Daniel Radcliffe)
