GLEE SURE KNOWS IT’S XMAS
We look forward to tonight’s special holiday episode of “Glee,” in which you hear the cast’s rendition of the ever so popular holiday song ”Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Just in case you Gleeks are already jonesing to download it, well…you’re wish has come true. The song will be available for purchase via iTunes immediately after the episode airs. By doing so, you will be making quite a special purchase indeed. This past week, 20th Century Fox Television and Columbia Records announced that 100% of the profits generated by the GLEE cast’s cover of the 1984 hit song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” will be donated to The Band Aid Trust (www.bandaid.org.uk). The massive amount of music talent in the studio that day back in 1984 was legendary. It ranged from Bob Geldof, Bono, Sting, Paul Young, George Michael and many others who recorded the original song more than 25 years ago to raise awareness for the famine crisis in East Africa.
The Band Aid Trust has raised tens of millions of dollars to support projects designed to make a lasting difference in Ethiopia, Somalia and surrounding countries in East Africa, including the construction of schools and hospitals; training for teachers, doctors and nurses; assistance for those living with HIV/AIDS and emergency food aid to treat severely malnourished children and adults.
