JESSE SPENCER: WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHASE ON ‘HOUSE’?

Jesse SpencerPOTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT!  If you haven’t watched Monday night’s episode of “House” yet, avert your eyes and immediately check it out on your DVR or VOD.  Then come back and read the rest of the story, because we’re referencing a major plot point from the “Nobody’s Fault” episode.

Yesterday, we foreshadowed that Monday night’s episode would be a game-changer for at least one of the “House” doctors, and it certainly was.  Dr. Chase (Jesse Spencer) is now fighting to regain the use of his legs after being stabbed by a patient.  And toward the end of the episode, did we actually see a moment of possible empathy from Dr. House (Hugh Laurie)?

Things may never be the same again for Chase, but could this incident also spark a change for House as well?  After all, he’s been grimacing (and medicating) through severe leg pain ever since we knew him, so he certainly knows the challenges and suffering that lie ahead for Chase.

So we asked Jesse Spencer if the relationship between the two doctors will fundamentally change — if House is now looking at Chase as a younger version of himself.

New episodes of “House” air Monday nights at 8/7c on Fox.

Love HOUSE. Hate to see things change between Chase and House!

The show is going in a great direction right now! Hope we see more depth in the lives of each of the team and their underlying “selves” in a more personal way… their interactions with each other and especially with House! In the past years it has always been that kind of inside look into the great characters that has intrigued me and kept me coming back! House, as much as I love Hugh Laurie’s portrayal of him, can be just too annoying! Less of the goofy antics and more delving into who these people are, PLEASE! Keep up the good work!

A MESSAGE FOR DAVID SHORE:

I’ve been very concerned about the direction of the show this entire season… fearing it may be the last.

I’ve been uneasy about the new casting as well … it isn’t a good fit… and House needs the dynamic of a more mature woman to interact with his life in the absence of Cuddy.

I agree with Maria Shillito that insight into each character’s personal life is ‘pivotal’ to the show… as it always has been in the past. The absence of this is killing the show in addition to the miscasted characters.

Last night’s episode is the ‘first’ show I have enjoyed all season… done in the old style that keeps us on the edge of our seats.

I agree with Jesse Spencer that this new dynamic between House and Chase will be a very interesting plot line… but there needs to be more… and Wilson’s life needs to become in much larger play on the show once again.

This is my favorite show of all time… I did not start watching it until season 6… and could never understand what the hoopla was in this character until I spent 3 years in Europe and took the DVD’s with me to watch.

Hugh Laurie is a genious performer… and never has there been such brilliant writing in television. The facets that make up House’s character are fascinating and I’ve never seen an actor so contrary in real life envelope a character such as this.

I don’t want you to go off the air !! and am looking forward to some changes that make us fall in love with these characters all over again…

I’ve always thought of Chase as the younger, not so damaged version of House.. I was so scared that Chase had died! Love the show.

I love House, have from the begining, but it is not what it use to be!
Getting a little dark…..
Chase will be fine, he is to vital to the show…

Love The Show/
Always watching it (interesting) I wish they were more doctors like House, trying to cure people instead of senting them home? I no the show coming to the end pretty some, season wise, House is going home to be with family,( thats understandable,). I would lov to meet him one day Hugh Laurie, and the cast/ O Chase , don’t blame House for your mistake ? I no alot is fiction but it still fun to watch, House are there nothing u can’t do far as playing music insturments as in playing them u are great. WELL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK****

Many cudo’s to the writers of the show! I have watched from the very beginning
and the brillance of the writing is pure genius.
Even though I have missed some of the old cast, I expect the new ones will be
just as fasinating…eventually. Keep up the good work and I anticipate more suspense and drama from House and company.

I love House. I have been a fan and watched since episode #1. I have seen the characters come and go. I agree that House needs Cuddy or her equivalent in his life. I was saddened to see the relationship between them end instead of progress. And kind of in a silly way. Who drives a car through as house????? Really? I also am concerned about the ending of the show. I will have serious House withdraw. I don’t hesitate to say it is my most favorite show I have ever watched on TV. I personally like the characters, although have liked past ones better and some not. Hugh Laurie is a fabulous actor and I thank him for the years of entertainment House has provided for me. I would love to write an episode. So many ideas of how I would like the show to pan out!!! As for Chase….get it together and get back to work!!!

I only started watching the show a few years ago now. Caught up on a lot with reruns. I have to say that the casting now compared to the past is horrible. The women do not add new strange good flavor that mix well chase taub and chase. Formen taking over cuttys job well ok I can see it, but see it lasting-no. With no strong female lead like cutty I feel like the is hanging half off a cliff. What happened to wilson? We barely see him and he was such a big part before and now he might as well be gone. The show is losing the edge of what made it good to want to come and watch. For now I am still here. But if something else showed up in that time slot that looked good I would probably stop watching.

I, too, am a huge “House” fan but I struggled with last season’s series. That whole thing with Cuddy was a turn-off for me and then the ridiculous jail episodes were over the top and unnecessary. I understand his “tormented” soul issue but bringing back his drug addiction should have been nixed, in my opinion. I’m tired of seeing him pop a Vicodin several times during a show. As far as the new cast this season…it just doesn’t fit. The little Oriental gal is very hard to listen to because she mumbles and the other gal is just too young and weak for there to be a balance between her and House. They need another Thirteen.

I love Chase but I hate to see the direction they are leading towards. He has been “damaged goods” because of his divorce and the “killing” thing, but he was always a likeable guy…a good guy on the series that you wanted to be unlike House. We’ll see where this leads.

I’m wondering if they (writer’s and producers) are running out of plot lines after all these years. Don’t get me wrong…I’m going to continue to watch because I’m curious where it’s headed. BTW…Wilson was surprisingly absent on this last show…why???

I have been a
huuge HOUSE fan since day 1! I truly appreciate Hugh Laurie’s portrayal of such an interesting&complex character& feel this program would never have been the success it is had any other actor been cast as Dr.House! Many otherfantastic cast members as well (tho I too miss the dynamics btwn House& Cuddy) i like the original team members& not quite feeling the addition of the 2 newer female members& would also Love to see a mature female enter House’s life & bring out that so rarely seen “tender”side of House. Many,Many thanks to Hugh Laurie& the other fine actors& brilliant writers who continue to entertain us,hopefully, for a long time to come?!!! THANK YOU :)

Can’t wait for the next episode.
Chase,
Stay away from the Vicodin!

Heard last night on the news that this will be “House”s last season! Is there no end to taking the best shows off TV and leaving on trash and/or so called “Reality” shows?! My other all-time favorite show “Men of a Certain Age” was canceled last season! Now “House”!!! I am destroyed! Hugh Laurie is one of the finest actors ever- TV or film! This season had improved to the quality that was there when the show started, and I had hoped the rumors of this being their last year would be squelched or at least reconsidered. I am in mourning for what might have been a “House” revival! I’ll miss the great writing and all the great characters past and present! When will it go off the air? Please give it and us a proper ending!!!

I’m actually DYING to see the ‘Chase’ episode- it looks like a real thriller. But as much as I’m loving House this season (and every season) I’m finding those women actors: Odette Yustman and Charlyne Yi absolutely insufferable. They’re weak actors, weak characters and they just don’t fit in with the show at all. I have a seriously strong urge to kick the casting director up the you-know-wassits. What were they thinking when they cast them?
Anyway, I hope this isn’t the last season of House. I’ll be really sad to see it go ):
Can’t wait for next episode; a full episode dedicated to my favourite actor and character, Chase…. -droooool-

NO NO NO. I don’t want House to leave the air. :( I’m like the other comment. There are so many bad shows on the tube now and the ones we love they take away. I am so heart broken. I don’t even watch that much tv but I do watch HOUSE. Why o why do they do this to us?

By: betty - Posted February 10th, 2012 5:07pm

Totally panicked about how they will end the series. I DON’T want House to die! I need to remember him in a different way than dead.
I have watched every episode of this series and I love the show.
HUGH LAURIE is an AMAZING actor. He excells in everything that he does. I hope that some day he will finally realize this as well.
There will never be a time that I will not miss Hugh or [H]OUSE.

It wasn’t anybody’s fault regarding Chase. It wasn’t Chase’s fault so that attempted blame is wrong. They have had other patients freak out on them so how were they to know that this one would grab the scalpel. It was no one’s fault
