RIMA FAKIH: MISS USA LOOKS FOR LOVE ON ‘THE CHOICE’

Seriously? A Miss USA winner hasn’t been able to find a man to date?

Believe it or not, it’s true!

Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, a 26-year-old Lebanese beauty from Michigan, hasn’t been able to find Mr. Right on her own, so she’s hoping she might be able to change her luck on national TV. This Thursday night, she’ll be a contestant on Fox’s hit dating show, “The Choice,” along with Carmen Electra, Sophie Monk, and model Hope Dworaczyk.

When Fox All Access host Chris Leary got to spend a few minutes backstage at the “American Idol” finale with Rima Fakih, as you’ll see in this video, he found out exactly why these beautiful women haven’t been able to meet their soulmates yet.

“The Choice” airs Thursday night at 9/8c after “Take Me Out” on Fox.

UK SENSATION ED SHEERAN GETS AN ‘A’ FOR EFFORT

Ed SheeranAt the age of 21, Ed Sheeran has already conquered the UK music charts, with a platinum-selling album and a string of four consecutive Top 10 hits.

Now, he’s set his sights on America, and he’s already won over a lot of fans — including Taylor Swift, who’s asked him to help her write songs for her next album!

His first single, “The A Team,” has already started to climb the charts — and if you haven’t heard it, well, it has absolutely nothing to do with the TV show or movie.  It is, however, a powerful, moving song — and if you haven’t seen the live rendition he recorded especially for us, you should.

Along with the live session, Ed talked with Fox All Access host Chris Leary about the song and its inspirations, along with plenty of other things, including his beginnings as a musician, his work ethic, and how he landed some prime gigs during his very first visit to Los Angeles.

So take a look at the interview, then check out Ed Sheeran’s debut album, “+.”

‘E.T.’: 30 YEARS LATER

The movie industry has changed a lot over the years. These days, even the biggest movies will have a few good weeks, then fade away as the next big thing hits theaters. In fact, it’s been over a decade since any movie spent 10 consecutive weeks in the Top 5 at the box office. One film that stands out from the rest is the 1982 film, “E.T.” The accomplishments of E.T. were spectacular – it spent 27 weeks in a row in the Top 5, 16 of those at Number 1. And even though it was released at a time when movie tickets cost less than 3 bucks a piece, it’s still number one on the all-time list of top-grossing movies. We could quote its accomplishments all day, but perhaps the biggest is that it’s Steven Spielberg’s favorite film. (Click on the audio player to hear Steven Spielberg)

CURSES! ADAM SANDLER IS A NAUGHTY ‘BOY’ IN NEW MOVIE

Along with his run on Saturday Night Live, Adam Sandler cut his teeth recording comedy albums filled with suggestive language and headlining his share of R rated films. Although Funny People received an R rating, Sandler’s subsequent movies (Just Go With It, Jack and Jill, Grown Ups) have been comedy that the entire family can enjoy. With That’s My Boy, Sandler returns with more adult humor, and he says it was pretty fun using curse words, even if it irritates members of his family. MADAGASCAR 3 BEATS PROMETHEUS AT WEEKEND BOX OFFICE

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted took the box office crown, earning $60,350,000 over the weekend.  Since its first film in 2005, the Madagascar franchise, which features the voice work of Ben Stiller and Chris Rock, has been roundly loved by both children and adults.

Prometheus, director Ridley Scott’s return to the sci-fi genre, came in at second place, taking in $50,000,000.  Starring Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron, Prometheus serves as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 feature Alien, and the filmmaker has stated that more Alien installments are in the works.  With the success of Prometheus, a sequel is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Last week’s box office winner, Snow White and the Huntsmen, fell two spots to third place, grossing $23,021,000.  Despite a 59% drop from last week, there are still strong rumors of a sequel.

Rounding out the top five is Men in Black III, which earned $13,500,000 in its third week of release.  The film has earned over $135,505,000, proving that the franchise is still going strong (the first Men in Black came out in 1997).  Over a month since its release, The Avengers is still going strong, as it came in at number five with $10,809,000.  The Avengers is now the third highest grossing film of all time, trailing James Cameron’s two blockbusters, Titanic and Avatar.

‘MADAGASCAR’S’ BEN STILLER: FUNNY RUNS IN THE FAMILY

Ben Stiller grew up in a show business family, as his parents are famed comedic team Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara (they were called Stiller and Meara). Some children go the opposite way career wise from their parents, but Stiller admits he loved movies as a kid and was determined to follow in his parents’ footsteps. (Click on the audio player to hear Ben Stiller)

It’s amazing to think that The Ben Stiller Show debuted over twenty years ago (1992) and he directed (and starred) in the 1994 feature Reality Bites. Now he’s one of the many voices in the family film Madagascar 3, which is out in theatres now.

Filmmaker Ridley Scott, who flourished in the sci-fi world thanks to Alien and Blade Runner, makes an ambitious return to the genre with the new film, Prometheus. Scott’s cinematic trademark is his unmatched visual style, and Oscar winner Charlize Theron was excited to work with Scott in the feature, which also stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. CAN BRANDON ROUTH STILL SOAR AFTER ‘SUPERMAN’?

Brandon Routh’s star was expected to reach new heights with the release of the 2006 feature Superman Returns, director Bryan Singer’s loving homage to Richard Donner’s first rate feature Superman.  Unfortunately, the film, although it turned a decent box office profit, did not perform up to expectations, putting a stall on Routh’s career.  Past Superman actors Christopher Reeve and George Reeves tried their best to shed the Man of Steel image, with Reeve actually having a solid career beyond the cape.

The question is if Routh, who has starred in independent films since Superman Returns, will find a role that will put him back in the spotlight.  The actor, who stars in the upcoming CBS sitcom Partners, says though he’s grateful for the iconic role but he is determined to carve out his own path.  (Click on the audio player to hear Brandon Routh)
