LANCE HENRIKSEN WANTS A ‘MILLENNIUM’ MOVIE

Throughout his career, Lance Henriksen has had a stable career in both film and television, but it’s his work as the android Bishop in Aliens and as the mysterious Frank Black in Millennium, an underrated supernatural drama from X-Files creator Chris Carter, which stand as his trademark roles. Although it’s been off the air for 12 years, Millennium still retains a diehard following, and Henriksen believes that if a low budget Millennium is ever made, it would be a hit for 20th Century Fox. Henriksen, who’s currently voicing the part of the villain Teasler in the Disney XD series Tron: Uprising, adds that he wrote an introduction for an upcoming Millennium novel. That this is a question at all within Fox is unbelievable but perhaps not surprising considering the state of network television and the priorities of what is getting greenlit on the big screen. Which is why Millennium could be the dawn of a new beginning of an approach for the studio to think outside of the box of “what fits with the numbers, demographics and timeslots”. Think more of yes this is something worthy to get behind for once not this will tick boxes A through to F. You don’t have to find the talent to make this happen or an audience either though that does no exclude new followers. The cast, crew and fans are ready for this. The mantra of the series the time is now can really be felt within the community interested.
All the pieces are there for this return to be something not only successful but something worthy. Not just disposable entertainment. One of Millennium’s legacy on television and something that it could continue.

I want a millenium movie

Hi FOX,
My partner introduced me to the wonders of Lance and Millennium in recent years. To have a Millenium movie would be amazing, and I would definitely be dragging friends along to see it. I think it would be an excellent way to let newer generations know about the series, people who would otherwise not come across Millennium would be able to discover it by seeing a film at the cinemas.
PLEASE listen to the worldwide mass of dedicated fans, the result could be nothing short of amazing. There are so many people from the original production keen to hop on board, why not let it loose? Way over here in Australia we have been listening to the podcasts of “Back to Frank Black” and waiting, hoping, for something to happen. Have you listened to them?
Well, waiting, watching, who cares? ……….

I believe that Mr.Henrikson is correct, a Millennium movie would be a great thing for Fox. The series was great and cancelled way too soon, the show was very relevant for the times and will always be mainly because it dealt with the very human struggle of good v.s. evil. Sure it may have been colored with serial killers, secret societies, ancient curses and the odd demon or two, but the theme resonates with all of us , why , because “This is who we are ” .

I love the Millennium series, and I really hope that this movie can happen!

A movie set in the Millennium universe really would be so timely, poignant and resonant given the state of the world in these early years of a new millennium. In additional to Lance himself, so many of the rest of the superb cast and crew really want to do it – including Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz. This would be a really meaningful film, and one that will surely find a significant audience given its relevance, and the ongoing support for the series and Frank Black.
I was at Collectormania in the UK over the weekend and can vouch for the level of ongoing support for Millennium that was very much in evidence. Many were clutching DVD box sets, publicity photos of Lance from the series and the like and were specifically queuing to meet him as a direct result of how strongly Frank Black has resonated with them, and how much he continues to do so.

I agree with Lance, we could all do with a bit more Frank Black.
I am excited at the prospect! Come on FOX, we love you!
By: Amy - Posted June 6th, 2012 4:41am
I will buy the book, see the film, buy the film on DVD, and keep advocating that the series itself come back…not in a new WKRP way either….it isn’t a nostalgic trip that drives my love of this character and show but a need to bring back some philosophy to the stories we tell about ourselves…p.s. – can you find a way to resurrect Peter Watt’s and bust Lara Means out of the psych ward…thank you.

If you make this movie, I will personally ensure its success by seeing it three times, every single day, for as long as possible.

We need Frank Black, Chris Carter, and the potent ideals of “Millennium,” now more than ever.

I don’t understand how ideas with no fan base get greenlighted all the time but a concept proven to attract people and possessing am existing fan base isn’t? Who WOULDN’T give it a shot?
By: Tom green - Posted June 6th, 2012 7:00pm
The time is now! Come on Fox!
By: Colby A - Posted June 7th, 2012 4:29am
I dare say the world needs more Frank Black.
By: David F - Posted June 7th, 2012 10:16am
I believe a Millennium film would be great, and would be a financial hit for Fox. Theatrical release or even a tv event on FX—I think would be successful. The show was ahead of its time, and with the current events in the world today it would be interesting to see how Frank Black’s outlook on it all. Please Fox, do right for us all. The Time Is Now…

I know just enough about the TV show to know how unlikely this actually is, but do it anyway. The FIRST TWO SEASONS were EXCELLENT! Kiss and make up with Morgan and Wong and kick out the jams to complete the mythology arc.

The book he’s referring to is not a novel, but a book ABOUT “Millennium,” which is already out.
I actually wrote a review here: http://www.popcornmonster.com/2013/01/05/book-review-back-to-frank-black-a-return-to-chris-carters-millennium/
