CAN BRANDON ROUTH STILL SOAR AFTER ‘SUPERMAN’?
Brandon Routh’s star was expected to reach new heights with the release of the 2006 feature Superman Returns, director Bryan Singer’s loving homage to Richard Donner’s first rate feature Superman. Unfortunately, the film, although it turned a decent box office profit, did not perform up to expectations, putting a stall on Routh’s career. Past Superman actors Christopher Reeve and George Reeves tried their best to shed the Man of Steel image, with Reeve actually having a solid career beyond the cape.
The question is if Routh, who has starred in independent films since Superman Returns, will find a role that will put him back in the spotlight. The actor, who stars in the upcoming CBS sitcom Partners, says though he’s grateful for the iconic role but he is determined to carve out his own path.
