“Judge Dredd,” an action movie based on the British comic book, first hit the big screen back in 1995. Starring Sylvester Stallone, the flick grossed more than $100 million, yet was still considered to be a disappointment.
But you know the saying, right? If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. And that’s exactly what’s happening. Seventeen years later, the character will be resurrected for a new movie — this one, simply called “Dredd” — starring Karl Urban (Dr. McCoy from the recent “Star Trek” film) as the title character.
Olivia Thirlby also stars in “Dredd,” and when we spoke to her about the film (which she called a “reboot” rather than a “remake”), she told us about her character.(Click on the audio player to hear Olivia Thirlby.)

Selena Gomez first achieved fame as a TV star, breaking through on Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place.” And with the series drawing to a close earlier this year, she’s been making the transition into movies. However, she hasn’t limited herself to the visual media — she’s also had success with a music career. With her band, The Scene, she’s released three albums since 2009, recently making the Top 10 with the hit “Love You Like A Love Song.”
As is the norm these days, her songs have spawned countless fan-performed cover versions on YouTube. When we spoke to Gomez, she told us she enjoys watching other people sing her songs… and admitted there are some who sing them better than she does!
For the past several years, Jonah Hill has been known mainly as a comedic actor. Although he has done a few dramas, including the film Cyrus, it wasn’t until his role as Peter Brand in the baseball film Moneyball, that both audiences and critics became aware that Hill isn’t just a comedic actor. The film earned Hill an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor.
Hill is still in awe that he is an Oscar nominee, and said that having that accomplishment to name for the rest of his career is an honor.
The 84th Academy Awards airs Sunday night. For more on the Oscars check out www.oscars.com
