Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third installment of the action film series, was the second highest grossing film in North America last year grossing $352,390,543. After the film’s great success at the box office, a fourth film was a sure thing. However, director Michael Bay, who has directed the previous Transformers films, was rumored not to be returning to direct the film. But that all changed today.
MTV Newsspoke to Transformers producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who confirmed that a fourth installment of the Transformers franchise will be in theatres in June of 2014, and that Bay will be back helming the flick. Di Bonaventura also told MTV that the film will be a whole new story.
Beverly Hills, CA – Bradley Cooper will present at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony, telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer announced today.
Cooper will be seen next in “The Words” and, later this year, in “The Place Beyond the Pines” and “The Silver Linings Playbook.” His film credits include “The Hangover Part II,” “Limitless,” “Valentine’s Day,” “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “Yes Man,” “Failure to Launch” and “Wedding Crashers.”
Cooper joins a stellar list of previously announced Oscar presenters, including Halle Berry, Rose Byrne, Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, Ellie Kemper, Jennifer Lopez, Melissa McCarthy, Wendy McLendon-Covey, Maya Rudolph, Emma Stone and Kristen Wiig.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide
Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage returns to the role of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which is opening in theatres this Friday. In 2007 Cage starred in a previous version of Ghost Rider, however many found the film to be disappointing. Cage told us a while back that directors Mark Neveldine and Bryan Taylor (who has directed action movies like Crank and Gamer) consider this a new experience compared to the previous version. With just two and a half weeks to go until the Academy Awards are handed out, the Oscar machine — as it does every year — is running like clockwork. After the nominees were announced, ballots were printed up, envelopes were stuffed, and we were there last week as they were shipped off to the Academy members. While the voters mull over their decisions, we talked to reps from the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse Cooper about the process and their role in it.

Clooney has been nominated seven times for an Academy Award, which includes two this year for Best Actor for his role in The Descendants, and for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay for the film The Ides of March. Hanks, who is a governor of the Academy, won consecutive Oscars® in 1993 and 1994 for his lead performances in “Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump.” He was also nominated for his leading roles in “Big,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “Cast Away.” Hanks can currently be seen in the Best Picture-nominated “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.” His other film credits include “Larry Crowne,” “Toy Story 3,” “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The Da Vinci Code,” “The Terminal,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Road to Perdition,” “Apollo 13″ and “A League of Their Own.”

It’s going to be a very busy year for Sam Worthington. This Friday, he stars in the action drama Man on a Ledge, and on March 30th, Worthington reprises his role as Perseus in Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to the 2010 hit Clash of the Titans.
Clash of the Titans was a big hit, but despite the film being a worldwide success, Worthington wasn’t happy with his performance. However, he feels that he will be much better in Wrath of the Titans, and that the film will be much better than the previous film.
