Although he’s one of television’s most influential and powerful voices, Seth MacFarlane understands that Family Guy’s first rate comedy doesn’t always hinge on his brain power. MacFarlane credits his “phenomenal” writing staff for the show’s continued success. Having a workaholic like MacFarlane also helps, as the group will stay up until the wee hours of the morning to ensure a top notch Family Guy episode. Tonight’s episode of House marks Hugh Laurie’s second time behind the camera, and even though he is the series star, Laurie admits that directing is daunting and challenging. There are so many elements to directing, and leading a dedicated crew and making a slew of creative decisions calls for an innate multi-tasker. Even with all these responsibilities, directing, to Laurie, is simply “thrilling.”
With three episodes remaining (including an all-new episode tonight), Season 7 of “Bones” will soon be coming to an end. Because of Emily Deschanel’s maternity leave, it became the show’s second “mini-season” (only 15 episodes were filmed for the strike-shortened third season).
When Fox All Access spoke to TJ Thyne, who plays Dr. Jack Hodgins on the show, he admitted that filming only 13 episodes — with a large break in the middle — made this an odd year for the show.
However, he also describes it as a year in which the show was in a great creative groove, and he says the atmosphere on the set was an extremely happy one. (Click on the audio player to hear TJ Thyne.)
