SARAH JONES: ‘ALCATRAZ’ DUO IN SEARCH OF IDENTITY

On Fox’s Monday night hit “Alcatraz,” Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia star as Detective Rebecca Madsen and Dr. Diego Soto, who become enveloped in the mystery when inmates from the notorious prison begin turning up on the streets of San Francisco, unchanged since they supposedly were transferred off the island in 1963.

Prior to joining the Alcatraz task force, Madsen was a fast-rising star for the SFPD, while Soto was the world’s foremost expert on “The Rock.”

But once they were recruited for the task force by Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill), their lives, as they knew them, changed for good.

Of course, there’s the obvious:  They’re now an integral part of solving a huge, dangerous mystery, trying to re-apprehend these notorious criminals, all while making sure the public never knows who they truly are.

But each of them has also seen their personal reality altered: Madsen found out that her family history was a lie, while Soto’s learned that his life’s work has been all wrong.

So while they’re confronting deadly criminals, Jones told Fox All Access they’re also confronting the emotions that come from essentially having their identities stripped from them.

An all-new episode of “Alcatraz” airs tonight at 9/8c on Fox.

TOM CRUISE EXCITED TO HAVE REUNITED WITH J.J. ABRAMS ON NEW MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

In 2006, Mission Impossible III was a huge hit. Tom Cruise proved that he was still a bonified movie star. The film was directed by J.J. Abrams, who has since gone on to direct big hit films such as Star Trek and Super 8.

Both Cruise and Abrams return for the fourth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, which opens in theatres December 21st. However, this time around, Abrams is only producing. Cruise admires Abrams, and was excited to work with him again on the fourth film. (Click on the audio player to hear Tom Cruise)

WILL TOM CRUISE’S NEXT ‘MISSION’ BE ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ TO RESIST?

Tom Cruise reprises his role for the fourth time as Ethan Hunt in Mission:Impossible – Ghost Protocol, which is co-produced by J.J. Abrams (who directed Mission Impossible III). The film also stars Simon Pegg, and Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, who is rumored to be taking over the franchise in the future as the lead actor. Would he do a good job, or should they stick with good ol’ Tom Cruise. This just released trailer looks great. The film hit theatres December 16th.  Take a look and let us know what you think!

HOW J.J. ABRAMS BALANCES TELEVISION AND MOVIES

Many consider J.J. Abrams a modern Hollywood mogul. Abrams has found great success in film, especially with his latest movie, Super 8.  As many know, Abrams also found major success as a television creator and producer with his shows “Lost” and “Fringe”.  As if his resume was not impressive enough, Abrams can now add two more television shows to his credits. FOX has picked up his new series, Alcatraz, which will be seen in January, and his other new drama, Person of Interest (starring James Caviezel), will air on CBS this Fall.

Abrams is balancing his television projects with his films as he is preparing to start work on the sequel to Star Trek. We asked him how he balances the workload of two new television shows and his films.

Abrams could result in one of the best movies we have seen in years.  Spielberg and Abrams have been looking for a project to work on together for years, and it was Super 8 that finally made it happen. FROM ‘SUPER’ TO ‘STAR’: J.J. ABRAMS GETS READY FOR ‘TREK’ SEQUEL

With his much-anticipated movie “Super 8″ finally hitting theaters this Friday, J.J. Abrams is starting to turn his focus to his next project, the sequel to his reboot of “Star Trek.”  While the studio has already set a release date of June 29, 2012 for the film, Abrams told us it’s not set in stone, because he’s not going to let a deadline get in the way of making the best movie possible.  Similarly, having essentially rewritten “Star Trek’s” history in the last movie, he feels like he can boldly take the franchise where it’s never gone before — again, as long as he’s making a good movie.
