KATE WINSLET REMEMBERS WHEN SHE ROSE TO FAME

Since the release of Titanic in 1997, the film has become one of the most beloved movies of all time. Tomorrow, the movie is being re-released in 3D. Kate Winslet, who was a relatively unknown actress in the USA, shot to Hollywood stardom after the film was released.  Since then, Winslet has won numerous awards including an Academy Award for best actress. Winslet knows that if it wasn’t for her role in Titanic, she wouldn’t have all that she does today.  She still recalls auditioning for the role.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER GETTING READY FOR TRUE LIES SEQUEL?

Ever since the action spy movie, True Lies (which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold, and was directed by Academy Award winner, James Cameron), was released back in 1994, there have been talks of a sequel. Since that time, Cameron has gone on to direct two of the biggest movies in history, Avatar and Titanic. Of course, Schwarzenegger became the governor of California, which stalled all talks of a sequel.

Well, according to Movieweb.com, a sequel just might be on its way. Tom Arnold told the web site that there is a script, stating, “I have read a great True Lies 2 script, and I hope we are able to do it. Knock on wood. Arnold Schwarzenegger is excited. I am excited.”

We liked True Lies, but should there really be a sequel after 17 years?  Also, can Schwarzenegger still make a good action flick at 63 years old? He will be at least 64 when the film is released.  Let us know what you think!

JAMES CAMERON: WORKING WITH 3D NOT AS DEMANDING ON SANCTUM

Academy Award winner James Cameron has revolutionized the way we look at movies, bringing 3D movies back to the forefront. This Friday, Sanctum, a new 3D action/thriller movie which Cameron produced, will be in theatres.

One would think that working on the 3D effects on a film like Sanctum would be very demanding, but Cameron tells us that the physical aspects of shooting the film were much more demanding than working with the 3D. (Click on the audio player to hear James Cameron)

WILL TRUE LIES BECOME A TELEVISION SERIES?

When the movie True Lies was released back in 1994, it was a huge hit.  The film was directed by Avatar’s James Cameron, and starred California’s soon to be former governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, and a young Eliza Dushku.  True Lies was about a secret agent (Schwarzenegger) who was keeping that fact a secret from his wife (Curtis) and daughter (Dushku).  From there the action began.

Years after the release of this film, there was talk of a sequel. However, because of scheduling conflicts of the actors (i.e. Schwarzenegger becoming a governor), not to mention that there was no good script, hopes of a sequel were put to rest.  Recently, however, according to Thearnoldfans.com , there have been rumors that True Lies will possibly be made into a television series. James Cameron, who wrote the screenplay for the film, told the web site, ”Yes, they’re currently writing.” When asked if any of the film’s original cast members would be involved in the television series, he responded only, “Well, I’m not developing it directly. I’m just putting my name on it so to speak.”

It’s very rare for a successful movie to be made into a good television series.  While we loved the premise of the film, would True Lies make a good television show?  Let us know what you think!

JAMES CAMERON’S NEXT MOVIE WILL NOT BE AVATAR SEQUEL

James Cameron is still enjoying the success of Avatar.  Why shouldn’t he be? The film is the number one movie of all time and has entirely changed the way we view movies. So it would make sense that Cameron’s next movie would be Avatar 2, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case.  It has instead been reported that Cameron’s next film will be a 3D movie featuring the people of the Amazon, who are against construction of a dam which they fear will flood tribal lands.

Cameron told Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, ”I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture.” Cameron’s blockbuster movie Avatar tells the story of the peaceful Na’Vi people who live in harmony with nature on the planet Pandora, and wage a bloody fight against strip-miners from Earth.

Cameron is no stranger to making documentaries. He directed, wrote, and produced Ghosts of the Abyss, where he revisits the Titanic, in addition to other documentaries.

Does this subject interest you at all? Are you disappointed that he isn’t working on the Avatar sequel yet?

THE ONLY THING BETTER THAN ‘AVATAR’? MORE ‘AVATAR’!

James Cameron is the King of the box office.  For over a decade, his film Titanic maintained its #1 spot as the highest grossing movie in box office history.  But all that changed in 2010, when his box office smash, Avatar, surpassed Titanic and became the #1 movie of all time.  Avatar literally changed the way we view movies.

This Friday, Avatar: Special Edition will be re-released on Friday theaters.  The movie will include 8 minutes of never before seen footage which Cameron has added on.  We sat down with the legendary director, who told us what we can expect from Avatar: Special Edition, and whether there is a sequel in the works.

'AVATAR' PRODUCER: DON'T COUNT '3' BEFORE '2'

Last night, “Avatar” became the reigning all-time U.S. box-office champion, passing the $600 million mark in just 47 days!  The film’s success, not surprisingly, has initiated talk of not only a sequel, but of an “Avatar” trilogy.  Not so fast, producer Jon Landau told us in an exclusive interview — right now, they’re content to go one film at a time. 'AVATAR' PRODUCER ECSTATIC ABOUT OSCAR RECOGNITION

There’s an incredible synchronicity at work, because “Avatar” is poised to break the all-time U.S. box office on the very same day that it earned nine Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for James Cameron.  The film started the day just $2.3 million behind “Titanic,” so if today’s take is close to yesterday’s gross of $2.7 million, we’ll have a new box-office champion tomorrow.  Between the critical acclaim and the commercial acceptance, producer Jon Landau is thrilled with the reception the film has gotten.: (Click on the media player to hear Jon Landau)

While Landau was obviously pleased with “Avatar’s” nine Oscar nominations, he thought there should have been a 10th, because he feels that without Cameron’s script, none of the accolades — or box-office records — would have been possible. (Click on the media player to hear Jon Landau)
