SIMON COWELL: X FACTOR JUDGES CAN’T BE SELFISH

The Twitter world has been working overtime the last couple of days, with rumors circulating about who the two new judges will be for the second season of “The X Factor.”  Will it be Mariah? Pink? Katy Perry? Janet Jackson? Beyonce? Britney?  While most everyone has a opinion on who would be perfect for the job and why, one man’s opinion counts a little more than most: X Factor judge and creator Simon Cowell.

When FOX All Access spoke exclusively with Cowell and fellow “X Factor” judge L.A. Reid, they gave us a laundry list of the mandatory requirements they are looking for in whoever gets hired.  While fun, entertaining, and competitive are on the list, the most important attribute is something that Simon says doesn’t come naturally to artists. (Click on the media player to hear Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

So, the question is, of the names being tossed around, who do you think best matches the requirements they’ve set forth: Funny, sense of humor, competitive, and willing to put their own self aside and find a star? Or do you have a better suggestion? Let us know what you think!

L.A. REID SPEAKS OUT ON ASTRO’S EXIT AND RIHANNA’S SUCCESS

If there’s any doubt what a huge fan L.A. Reid is of Astro then you need to look no further than this video. We met up with L.A. backstage right after the Thursday eliminations and asked him what he thought of Astro’s departure, how loveability and attitude played a part in the outcome, and what if feels like to watch the people you’ve mentored succeed.

L.A. still has two guys in the running, Marcus and Chris. What will happen next? Only time will tell. Catch the next round of The X Factor this coming Wednesday when the contestants take on two songs each. It all happens Wednesday at 8PM ET/PT on FOX.

FREEDOM COMES TO AN ASTRO-NOT ON THE X FACTOR

One of the two big upsets on this week’s X Factor was the elimination of Astro.  The confident kid from Brooklyn with the mad rapping skills who instructed Simon to quit lookin’ at his mom was sent home to the surprise of many. We caught up with Astro right after the show and got his thoughts on leaving (he feels free!), his attitude, and what he’s learned along the way. (Note to any haters – he’s on to you, so don’t waste your time.)

So, did America do right by not pushing to keep Astro on the show? With his skills, does it even really matter? Let us know your thoughts!

PAULA ABDUL AND L.A. REID FAVORITE MUSIC MEMORY: MICHAEL JACKSON’S MAN IN THE MIRROR

Hearing Michael Jackson’s music on ”The X Factor” this week will bring about a lot of memories for many people, including The X Factor’s very own judges. We caught up with both Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid months ago, and asked them to share one of their favorite music memories.  Little did we know that the memory would be one they shared together, and that it included Michael Jackson and his song “Man in the Mirror”.  Check it out:

Catch The X Factor this week and find out which two contestants will have to say goodbye.  Wednesday and Thursday night at 8PM ET/PT on Fox.

The X Factor Top 9 React to their Emotional “Giving Thanks” Performances

If you caught the Tuesday night “Giving Thanks” edition of The X Factor then you know it was a pretty emotionally charged evening. It’s hard to say who had the most moving performance of the night. Rachel Crow and the girls of Lakoda Rayne took the uptempo route to thank their families. LeRoy Bell and Marcus Canty’ paid moving tributes to their moms. Astro sent a redemptive thanks and personal shout out to his fans, while Drew took the very personal route and made a very heartfelt thanks to her bestie Shelby (and reminded us that we all need a Shelby). Then there was Melanie’s high octane performance that moved her so much that she laid it all out and revealed her authentic Virgin Island accent that she’s been hiding all along. Last but not least, there was Chris Rene’s courageous tribute to his rehab conselor, Tim.  We caught up with each of the contestants backstage after the tear inducing show, and asked them about their performances and how it felt.  check it out!

So the question now is will there be more tears tonight than last night? And who the heck is going to be eliminated? (BTW, is it just us or does it feel mean to be eliminating anyone on Thanksgiving week? Just saying!)  Catch tonight’s show with special performances by Bruno Mars and Kelly Clarkson – it all happens at 8PM ET/PT on FOX.   P.S. Stay at your TV and enjoy the rest of the evening with Howie Mandel’s latest Thanksgiving friendly special “Mobbed” – right after The X Factor.

THE X FACTOR TOP 9 TALK TURKEY ON THIS THANKSGIVING WEEK

2011 is going to be quite an unusual Thanksgiving experience for The X Factor Top 9.  On top of missing their traditional family gatherings they’re going to have to perform like they’ve never perfromed before in order to survive the double elimination on Wednesday night. As Astro, Chris, Drew, Josh, Lakoda Rayne, LeRoy, Marcus, Melanie, and Rachel prepare to show their “Thanks” in song this week, we thought it would be interesting to find out what home-cooked Thanksgiving foods they’re going to be thinking about the most .  Check it out!

So our question to you…. If you could have any X Factor contestant over for Thanksgiving – who would it be and why?  Tell us! Then make sure to tune in to The X Factor tonight for some gratitude infused performances at 8PM ET/PT on Fox and remember to VOTE! Because TWO contestants are going to be eliminated tomorrow, and that ain’t no turkey.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

EXCLUSIVE! THE X FACTOR TOP 11 REFLECT ON THEIR PERFORMANCES

Wednesday night’s X Factor show included a little bit of everthing… There were some great songs (Josh, Rachel and LeRoy), great style (Lakoda Rayne and Stereo Hogzz), serious poetics (we’re talking you Astro and Chris), health issues (Melanie & Marcus), and topics for the judges to dispute (Stacy’s song selection and Drew’s dress design). With so much going on we decided to go straight to the source backstage and ask each of the Top 11 X Factor contestants how they felt about their performance and the evening.

What did you think? Who was your favorite? Do you think they’ll make the cut to next week? The results are in the hands of America now. We’ll find out which contestants make it to the Top 10 during the results show on Thursday November 10 at 8/7 central on FOX.
