The FOX hit series House, which is entering its eighth season, will have a different look when it returns next Monday 9/8 central on FOX. As many know, House star Lisa Edelstein, who played Dr. Lisa Cuddy for seven seasons, decided not to return to the series. Many of her co-stars were sad to hear she wasn’t coming back. House star Hugh Laurie is among them, and was sad to see her depart and wished her well. (Click on the audio player to hear Hugh Laurie)

As unpredictable as the “House” season finale was, the show’s action behind the scenes has been even wilder. After negotiations to bring the show back to Fox for an eighth season went down to the wire, Lisa Edelstein surprised everybody by announcing she’d chosen not to return to her role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy this fall. Not only was this a shocker to fans, but also her castmates. We talked to Peter Jacobson (Dr. Chris Taub) over the weekend, while he was promoting “Cars 2,” and he told us he hasn’t been given any details about what to expect next season. And while he believes the loss of Edelstein will be felt both on and off the set, Jacobson invokes the old show-biz saying, that the show must go on. House, the FOX hit drama, continues to be one of the best shows on television. House features a great ensemble of actors led by the great Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein. Year after year, the show receives Emmy nominations and other impressive accolades for its superb acting.
What most don’t realize, is that the success of the show depends every bit as much on those who are behind the scenes, starting with its directors, and the writers who have created amazing characters and stories. Lisa Edelstein and Hugh Laurie told us that it is a great task to direct an episode of the show, and that the writers create the magic of House. A new episode of House airs tonight on FOX at 8/7 Central. Ever since the show first premiered, there has been obvious sexual tension between Doctors House and Cuddy, and it appeared to be just a matter of time before our favorite doctors got together. This season, the “Huddy” relationship has become a reality, and we will get to see if they can make it as a couple after years of speculation. As with any bold and controversial plot development on a popular show, there are bound to be some people who are happy with the story line, yet others who wish the writer’s hadn’t gone there.
When we spoke to Lisa Edelstein, who plays Dr. Cuddy on the show, she acknowledged both sides of the debate. (Click on the audio player to hear Lisa Edelstein)
