We’ve already learned that “The X Factor’s” Nicole Scherzinger comes from “the musicians’ planet” and L.A. Reid is smarter because of music, but what about their fellow judge, Paula Abdul? Why is she so passionate about music?
Turns out, it’s quite an emotional subject for her, so take a look at what she has to say!
“The X Factor” premieres tonight with a two-hour special at 8/7c on Fox. For more information about “The X Factor,” visit www.thexfactorusa.com.
Like the other judges on “The X Factor,” Nicole Scherzinger knows firsthand how much work it takes to make it in the music business. In the last few years alone, she’s toured the world as frontwoman for the Pussycat Dolls, competed and won on “Dancing With The Stars,” and recorded her first solo album. And that all happened before she joined Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and L.A. Reid at the “X Factor” judges’ table! So it’s fair to say Nicole is not just talking the talk, but walking it too.
With the premiere of “The X Factor” less than three weeks away, we asked Nicole to describe exactly the kind of work ethic that goes into becoming a successful artist, and what it’s going to take for a contestant to pass her scrutiny.
How many contestants do you think will pass her “work ethic test” and have “The X Factor”? Will her “sleep when you’re dead” attitude help her groom the winning contestant? We’ll find out soon: “The X Factor” premieres Wednesday, September 21 at 8/7 Central on FOX.
Don’t want to wait until Sept. 21 to see the premiere of “The X Factor” on Fox? Will you be in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept. 14? Then click here for an opportunity to get into a very special, exclusive screening!

Nicole and Paula join L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell at the judges’ table on “The X Factor”… help them choose the next global music superstar. It all starts Wednesday, September 21st on Fox.
As you likely heard, Paula Abdul wasn’t announced as a judge on “The X Factor” until literally hours before the first live auditions filmed in Los Angeles. According to Simon Cowell, that was in no way an indication that Abdul was his last choice. As a matter of fact, he told us she was his first choice, but before he could put her on the panel, he had to put her to the test. Obviously, she passed, and she’ll join Cowell, L.A. Reid, and Nicole Scherzinger as a judge/mentor on “The X Factor” when it premieres on Fox this fall.
Hot off the wire… The X Factor and Pepsi have announced a partnership with youtube. Starting today, singers and vocal groups can submit videos online at www.youtube.com/thexfactorusa
In an effort to leave no stone unturned in the quest to find a global superstar, THE X FACTOR is taking auditions online. Executive Producer & Judge Simon Cowell said he’s happy that they are launching the auditions through YouTube. “There is a lot of great talent online now, and especially young kids today are using YouTube to get themselves seen and heard. It’s very easy, and it is $5 million after all! I’m very excited to see the auditions that might come through this.”
Entrants can demonstrate their singing ability by performing a song a cappella. Videos are limited to two (2) minutes in length, and should include a 30-second introduction that explains who they are and why they have THE X FACTOR. Audition videos, which will be judged in a similar fashion to the live audition cities, will remain private and be viewable only by THE X FACTOR team. Auditioners selected to move forward in the competition will be offered the opportunity to continue their audition in front of the judges.
Visit www.youtube.com/theXfactorusa for more information and complete rules and regulations, as well as the full terms and conditions of the video submission process.
It’s hard to believe it has been six years since Carrie Underwood made her first appearance on American Idol before Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Carrie Underwood has become one of the biggest country music artists, and has had great success crossing over to pop music as well. Underwood is arguably the most successful Idol alum today.
We caught up with Underwood and asked her if she remembers that memorable day when she first appeared in front of the Idol judges. (Click on the audio player to hear Carrie Underwood)
